Background

Mark spent nearly three decades honing his business-building acumen first at Procter and Gamble in the brand management organization, and then more extensively as a longstanding Senior Partner at McKinsey and Company. He helped clients conceive and build new products, services, practice areas, and businesses in North America, Latin America, Africa, and Asia; led the development of McKinsey’s Branding practice in the Americas; co-led establishing McKinsey’s presence in sub-Saharan Africa, and created McKinsey’s global Organizational Insights practice to develop diagnostic tools and methods to improve the on-going success and sustainability of an enterprise.

Since his time with McKinsey, Mark has applied his deep expertise, broad-based perspective, and global network as a board member, advisor, and investor with multiple impact-oriented technology companies and family offices, and most notably, in leadership and senior advisory roles as the Chairman of the Board at Factor[e] Ventures, Operating Partner at Blackhorn Ventures, and Director at Redstone Strategy Group.

Mark’s work frequently leads him to support large family offices as the Principals and their staff collaborate to form strategies and allocate funding across philanthropic, concessionary, and market rate return opportunities to launch and support sustainably scalable impact enterprises.

Mark and life partner, Melanie, live north of Boulder CO on their small farm where they nurture regenerative agricultural practices and regularly convene gatherings of like-minded colleagues aspiring to make the world a better place. Mark and Melanie have four adult children and a steady flow of fur-buddies to keep everyone smiling.
